Comment: I am impressed with the web site.
I understand that you want more pictures of Brandesburton. My husband took
quite alot for the Parish Plan steering committee to choose from for their open
events. These are available. Let me know what you want and how you would like
to receive them.
Comment: I have traced some of my ancestors back to
Brandesburton. They were the Eastwoods and I suspect there was a connection
with "Eastwood House" which still exists in the main street. I used
to visit regularly when my sister lived at Warley Cross and our family lived in
Foston On The Wolds in the 40's and 50's. I will visit your website again when
I have more time but am pleased to have found you this morning.
Comment: Attended school in this village in
the 1940's. I drove through Brandesburton a few years ago and I just had to
stop and look at the school. Fond memories of the children in this school. We
were all terrified of Mr and Mrs Robinson, Head master and mistress. I love the
village, it is so pretty. I have tried to locate the history of this village
without success. I am delighted that you have Brandesburton on line.
Comment: My brother's interest in geneology managed to trace some of our
ancesters to Brandesburton. They were Watsons. It was wonderful to be able to
see Brandesburton's web page and view photographs showing how beautiful it is.
I hope to visit and touch home ground there sometime.

Comment: I plan to visit Brandesburton in 2009 -have a particular interest in the village as my late grandmother was born there - Katherine Lucy Beswick - in 1901. Her parents were John and Mary and they were married at St Mary's Church on May 29th 1895. Her brother Edwin Ezard Beswick was killed in WW1 and his name was/is ?? on the village war memorial. Looking forward to a visit next year. Thanks for introducing me to the village via your wonderful website!

Comment: I, like many others, am researching my family history and have traced one branch back to Brandesburton. The person is Robert Hall born in 1822 and he ended up in Northampton in the shoe industry. He married a lady from Hanslope in Buckinghamshire. Does anyone else know of these people, any information would be useful. I do hope to visit Brandesburton in the near future.

Comment: I have happy/sad memories of Brandesburton. My sister and I were in the childrens home on Frodingham Road for a few years in 1947 and it left me with a great love of the countryside.I remember many of the people who lived there and was also terrified (like Barbara Reyna) of Mr&Mrs Robinson, having three strikes of the cane for laughing with a friend during a lesson. We walked to the Methodist Church twice every Sunday two by two,in all weathers.

Comment: My wife and I visited the village in April of 2009, my Grandmother Lily Scott came from here. Her brother Harold Scott was a Wolds Waggoner in WW1. The Scotts have lived in the village since the 1820's. I met Carol from Home Farm who is a distant relation via the Reed family. We had a wonderful time and have pleasant memories of the village. I would love to hear from any other distant relatives.

Comment: I have researched the 6 Congo pygmies who were in Brandesburton 1905-7 when they weren't touring. My next talk is at BEVERLEY ARCHIVES 6 Nov 09. Fresh information welcome! Does anyone have their 78 rpm records from 1905 or snap shots? Or details of Harrison's American wife from Illinois or California? Best wishes!

Comment: I work at Premier Interlink (Waco UK Ltd) in Brandesburton. It's on the site of the old Catfoss airfield, and we have a war memorial at the entrance of the road to our company. It would be really interesting to read about the history (and see photos?) about the airfield.

Comment: Like others i am researching my family tree. My father was Harry Sissons, son of John and Emma Sissons nee Hunt. They lived at Wold view for many Years. John had a brickworks in the village for a time and was a regular visitor to the "Mucky Duck". I used to play in the grounds of the "home for the unwell" as my Granny used to say. If anyone remembers the family or has any memories/photos i would be very pleased to hear from them.

Comment: Just visiting the area - Bridlington - in July. Checking out pubs in the area to meet relatives, from Beverley, for evening meal.
Good idea of the village to come up with this web site - good site - just browsed it because it came up when 'googling' Brandesburton.
